Sarasota Scuba Club is here to promote SCUBA diving, provide underwater educational programs and recreational activities. We hold a monthly meeting with marine-related programs, arrange dive trips, sponsor water-related social activities and have social gatherings for the whole family. We raise money to support our club expenses and to make donations to groups such as DAN (Divers Alert Network), Mote Marine and other community projects.
Questions about the club? Don't hesitate to ask.
In 1964, a group of divers in Venice formed the Venice Grouper Snoopers. October 1965, the name changed to the Venice SCUBA Diving Club. October 17, 1967 we incorporated as a nonprofit. During those early years, meetings were held in the members' homes in both Sarasota and Venice. We became the Sarasota SCUBA Club, Inc. in 1995.
We are underwater enthusiasts and family members enjoying our Florida Gulf Coast underwater environment. Non-members are welcome at social events and meetings. Only paid members may dive with us. We get reduced prices for diving trips, thanks to the the efforts of our members. We encourage your membership, but it's not your dues we want, it's your personal involvement and friendship - those make the club work!
